David Cocke, SE, F.SEI, F.ASCE — Structural Focus President and founder David Cocke has worn many hats (safety hard hats to be exact) during his thirty-six plus years of experience. Depending on the project goals, he now acts as Structural Focus’ Principal-in-Charge, Project Manager and mentor to the project’s structural engineering team. David is very active in the preservation of historic buildings and he is a steadfast advocate for partnering sustainable design with the preservation of existing structures. Read more.

Russell Kehl, SE — Structural Focus Principal, Russell Kehl, SE, is passionate about quality structural design, exemplary client care, and preserving historic structures. Russell has been with Structural Focus since 2001; he has managed a broad range of projects from new design to renovation of landmark buildings such as Wilshire Boulevard Temple and John Ford Anson Amphitheatre. Wayne Chang, SE With over 17 years of experience working alongside David, Structural Focus Principal Wayne Chang’s experience comprises the design of modifications to several laboratory buildings, renovations and design of new studio production facilities, renovations and strengthening of historic buildings, and repair and evaluations of industrial buildings. Kate CockeKate is the Chief Financial Officer for Structural Focus and is also responsible for human resources. Kate Cocke co-founded Structural Focus in 2001 after working for 21 years as a senior manager at Bechtel Corporation. Kate is committed to providing a great work/life balance for Structural Focus employees and ensuring a collegial, supportive office environment. In a volunteer capacity, Kate currently serves on the Board of the Boys and Girls Club of the Los Angeles Harbor in San Pedro. She also serves on the Board of the Peninsula Committee Children’s Hospital, raising funds for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Samuel Mengelkoch, SE  — Samuel Mengelkoch, SE brings 14 years of experience to his projects; 12 of those years he has spent at Structural Focus. As an Associate with Structural Focus, Sam serves as Project Manager for multiple projects; he recently completed the historic renovation and retrofit of ROW DTLA Building 2 and a new $125 million private estate in Los Angeles. Sam is dedicated to providing exceptional client care and enjoys on-the-job problem-solving. Read more.
