Project details

Structural Focus provided full strengthening engineering services to renovate and increase dining capacity for the historic Rose Garden Tea Room at the Huntington Library Gardens in San Marino. Additions included the lobby Conservatory, plus the outdoor Shakespeare Pavilion and interior Herb Room dining facilities.

Designed by Myron Hunt and built in 1911, the original building served as a billiard room and bowling alley. The sports-minded space transformed into a tearoom in 1928, just a year after owner Henry Huntington's passing (and the year that the gardens had their public debut).
