Educational, Cultural & Community Facilities

Engineering the places where communities learn, gather, and grow.

Education, cultural, and community buildings have a special importance: they are where children learn, congregations gather, and neighborhoods celebrate together. Structural Focus has spent over 25 years designing, strengthening, and preserving these buildings across Southern California, from active college campuses and independent schools to museums, performing arts centers, places of worship, libraries, and civic amphitheaters.

We know these projects demand cultural sensitivity, acoustical coordination for theaters and auditoriums, phased construction around occupied classrooms and sanctuaries, code-sensitive retrofits of historic campus buildings, and location sensitive ground-up design. We collaborate closely with project teams to design solutions serving both the program and the people utilizing the facility.

Long-standing relationships include Pepperdine University, The Webb Schools, and The Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens. Additional projects include the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre, the Sandi Simon Center for Dance at Chapman University, and The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture.
