Structural Focus Receives the SEAOC Retrofit and Alteration Award of Merit for The Reserve

Los Angeles-area, CA, Sept.11, 2015 — Structural Focus President, David Cocke, S.E., accepted the 2015 Retrofit and Alteration Award of Merit for The Reserve project at the Structural Engineers Association of California (SEAOC) 84th Annual Convention in Seattle, WA. Completed in May 2013, Worthe Real Estate Group’s The Reserve in Playa Vista, CA conserves and transforms an existing, 400,000 square foot US Postal Service distribution center, into valuable working space for Silicon Beach tenants. Working with HLW International and Krismar Construction, Structural Focus Principal, Russell Kehl, S.E., served as the Project Manager for the LEED Gold Certified project; the team achieved the most sustainable option through the adaptive re-use of an existing building. Kehl commented, “The resulting product created a refreshing environment where creative minds can work to develop innovations for years to come.” Since the base construction was completed, Structural Focus has also provided design services for all tenants at The Reserve, including Microsoft, Team One Advertising, TMZ, Sony Computer Entertainment America, Sony Motion Capture Studio and Verizon.
