Sony Pictures Akio Morita Building

Structural Focus partnered with Gensler in the design of the new 260,000 SF eight-story office building at Sony Pictures Studios. The mid-rise tower houses creative office space, support functions, and a ground-floor cafe. The project included newly innovated construction technology incorporating prefabricated steel moment frames. Based on the project’s objectives and restrictions, the team agreed that this approach would benefit the client in terms of schedule and cost. This new Art Deco-style eight-story commercial office building was part of an extensive campus improvement.
