Bel Air, CA
KAA Design Group partnered with Structural Focus to design a new multi-million dollar 28,000 SF private residence on a hillside lot in Bel Air. Extensive foundation work was required to stabilize the slope for the construction of this contemporary residence. With a large concrete podium slab, the house features a below grade level two-lane bowling alley, in-home theater, personal gym, spa, and a 15-car garage. The concrete podium supports a large lawn area for volleyball and other outdoor activities as well as the two-story portion of the house. The aboveground portion of the house has five bedrooms including a large master bedroom suite and golf terrace. The dining room is framed in steel and glass, supported by a cantilevered concrete slab over the garage. With the second story cantilevering over the first story, the structure creates the look of beautiful ‘floating’ rooms. In addition to the main house, there is a guest house with an accessible roof deck that overlooks DTLA. The large windows throughout the main house along the southern elevation showcase the amazing view of the Los Angeles Basin.
